Kent Paroz is at an exciting crossroad in his life as he makes the change from his Brisbane based role in the Advice Team to that of a financial planner in his hometown of Toowoomba.
After 18 months in Brisbane, he’s looking forward to re-establishing himself in the environment he knows so well and to reconnecting with old friends. But with the keen sportsman moving away, it looks like Invest Blue’s Brizzie AFL team will have to recruit a new player…
Kent, now 37, has spent much of his working life in Toowoomba and says that while it is a growing city, it retains that ‘big town’ feel which he likes. Kent describes Toowoomba as a great gateway to towns further to the west, a terrific hub for rural people with many professional services available.
Invest Blue opened their office in Toowoomba 12 months ago and Kent looks forward to joining the team there. He hopes to continue to build on the company’s solid reputation and welcomes the opportunity to establish his own client base. He sees the combination of being a local working for a national company with such excellent support services in place, as ideal.
Kent believes his experience gained in the Invest Blue Advice Team will be extremely helpful in the transition to a fully-fledged financial planner. He says, “I’ve had a fantastic 18 months in a support role that gives me tremendous insight into what’s involved with clients and the various processes and strategies the planners opt for. The Advice Team experience has been invaluable to this next phase of my career.”
Roles prior to Invest Blue involved client interaction and Kent is keen to once again have face to face contact. “I very much enjoy that rapport with clients and building trust as I learn more about their financial goals and objectives. I want it to be a simple, easy process for everyone involved and respect the fact that not everyone is immediately comfortable talking about their finances. To me, a great planner is one who asks a lot of questions, is upfront and takes the time to really get to know their clients.”
Kent has thoroughly enjoyed his time thus far with Invest Blue and says it was a very easy decision to come on board when he was presented with the opportunity to do so in April last year.
“I love the focus on teamwork and the company culture. The core values that guide everyone have really resonated with me. Invest Blue are ahead of the game in many ways, actively seeking new and different ways of doing things which is very exciting when you’re along for the ride.”
Kent will certainly have a busy time ahead settling into his new role and to life in his home town. Time with family and friends is something Kent most looks forward to and of course, everyone is thrilled to be welcoming him back to Toowoomba. Here’s hoping that between work and social catch ups, he still has time for the other things he loves; running (he has several half marathons under his belt) and supporting Hawthorn. Kent’s always loved sport – both playing and watching. As a financial planner, he’ll be helping clients achieve many a goal so it’s only fitting that he has his sights set on reaching a particular goal of his own; being courtside at Wimbledon cheering on the tennis greats.
